“Season to taste”

“Morning glory”

“From the garden” - these are oranges and lemons from our garden. Here they are in the sink waiting to be washed.

“Town Square Fountain” - this is a fountain in Willow Glen where I live. I decided to render it in a painterly way to put emphasis on the water.

“Coastal kinetics” - A rocky beach on the central California coast.

“Pacific light” - the beach off central California coast. I rendered this as a watercolor, including texture of watercolor paper.

“By hand: J. S. Bach and Steinway” - The script is a hand-written music manuscript by J. S. Bach. The soundboard is that of a hand-made 1912 Steinway grand piano.

“Soundboard of 1912 Steinway” - I added several digital filters to get this effect.

“Stand of trees in the mist”

“Distance” - I photographed this tree in the fog. And then I used some digital textures to mimic a scratched metal tintype.

“3 lemons” - I set up this still life in my studio and then added some French text and digital filters to make it look like a painting.

“Church of the heavens” - This is a composite of two photographs I took. One is the Basilica of Rouen in France. The other is clouds. I painstakingly removed parts of the church roof and windows to let the clouds come through.

“I will stand by my friend” - A still life that includes many indicators of a rich and full friendship.

“The fair sex” - this still life is a composite of several images I took. One is of a 1763 Ladies Almanac; another of a French student’s study book from 1928; the last is of a modern day still life which I set up in my studio.

“Painter within me” - I have always felt I had a painter within me….except I cannot paint. Once photography went digital, I was able to let that “painter” come out. These are pastel sticks made in a painterly way.

“Pastels out of the box #5” - I love photographing painters’ work areas. This is exactly as he had it….but I turned the colors upside down.

“Pastels out of the box #3” - I love photographing painters’ work areas. These are pastels but I turned the color palette upside down.

“Peeling lemons” - in this still life, I added a number of digital textures as well as removed a lot of detail (such as the wine label) so that it looks like an old painting. The lemons look like they are peeling right off the page.

“Memory long ago” - this photograph started out as a shot of my shadow on a brick sidewalk. The shadow shape made me think of how fleeting things are. So I used a “digital encaustics” filter (mimicking beeswax, also ephemeral) and even a “gauze filt

“The limit” - you can pretty much read what you want into this title!

“Peerless” - A wall advertisement for a nearby hotel by this name. I added a lot of digital filters to give it a more nostalgic look.

“Verdigris” - One of my more experimental images, this shows an “out there” rendering of copper pots in Monet’s kitchen in Giverny, France.

“Room in Monet’s home - Giverny, France. This is a side room in his very colorful home. I feel like this composition almost looks like a painting itself.
